ThursdayTalks Update - November 2020
Note to Community Members
Dear friends,
Trust this meets you well.
As you are aware,
is a monthly conversation with thought leaders, change agents and active citizens to exchange ideas about the demand for good governance through active citizenship. It is hosted by EiE Nigeria, BudgIT and The Future Project.
We are glad that the conversations have continued, despite COVID-19, as we pivoted to a webinar format. However, for the last four months of the year, #ThursdayTalks will not be a stand-alone event as we’ve decided to leverage the activities of partner organisations.
November:
The
will happen next week
Thursday, November 26th
, the last Thursday of the month. 😉
The theme for this edition is
New Media & Voice: People, Action & Hashtags.
Our reality is changing, and the pandemic has led to the emergence of a new culture of engagement in all spheres of life including civic and political matters.
The conference will provide a platform for analysts, policymakers, and citizens to discuss these issues from various perspectives with the purpose of proffering solutions and strategizing pathways to mitigate some of the challenges posed by the ‘new normal'.
It is hosted by EiE, BudgIT & Paradigm Initiative (PIN).
October:
EiE marked its 10
anniversary. The anniversary was actually March 16
, but due to COVID-19, it couldn’t be marked in May as planned.
Nigeria marked its 60
year since independence in October so EiE decided to mark its 10
anniversary on October 30, 2020. The date
30-10-20
coincidentally sums up to
60,
Nigeria’s diamond jubilee!
EiE decided to mark this special day with a thought-provoking conversation with Leadership Strategist Expert, Sam Adeyemi.
The conversation covered the recent happenings around the #EndSARS protest and what we must actively do as Nigerians on our journey to Nigeria at 100. Catch up on the conversation
September:
BudgIT launched the
on the 24
of September 2020. This publication chronicles her continued advocacy for the optimisation of Nigeria’s revenue base, towards a more inclusive society, via a needed focus on the states. Read the report
December:
#ThursdayTalks falls on Christmas Day (December 25
), so it won’t hold.
Nevertheless, we will join
The Future Project to celebrate the Future Awards
when they announce a date.
We also encourage you to use the time to reflect on the events of the last twelve months and prepare for a more impactful 2021!
Thank you for joining us with these conversations.
Have a great weekend!
EiE, BudgIT & The Future Project
