Support for Sickle Cell Warriors
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
Helen Keller
(American Author and Disability Rights Advocate)
Dear Active Citizen,
As we reflect on impactful partnerships and memories, one name that resonates deeply with us is Tosyn Bucknor—a vibrant soul whose passion and energy inspired countless lives, including ours at EiE Nigeria.
In 2014, Tosyn made her platform available to us, and we ventured into radio programming at TopRadio 90.9FM. Together, we created the #NoWahalaMonday program, which became a platform for civic engagement, empowering citizens to hold their leaders accountable. That partnership laid the foundation for what would later become a national footprint—by 2019, EiE Nigeria had radio programs in 25 states, amplifying voices and connecting citizens across Nigeria.
Tosyn's impact didn’t end there. Through “These Genes Foundation”, she turned her personal struggles with Sickle Cell disease into a mission to empower and support those living with the condition. This Tuesday, November 19, 2024, “These Genes Foundation” was officially relaunched by her sister Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, with the support of her family to carry forward Tosyn's legacy of compassion and service. The relaunch renews its mission to support individuals and families affected by Sickle Cell disease—a cause close to Tosyn’s heart and a reminder of her indomitable spirit.

As we honor Tosyn’s legacy, we invite you to celebrate her life by supporting These Genes Foundation. Together, we can ensure that her light continues to shine, offering hope and support to those who need it the most.
