#NigeriaDecides2023: Dismantling Voters' Apathy

Yesterday, January 26

, we had an interactive session on

discussing the 2023 general elections and voter apathy.

INEC acknowledged that voter apathy can be caused by a variety of factors, such as lack of trust in the electoral process, lack of information, and lack of engagement with the community.

The Commission is making efforts to address this issue by increasing voter education and outreach, and by working to improve the transparency and fairness of the electoral process. They also mentioned that they are working closely with other stakeholders to increase voter turnout.

CBN: New or Old Notes?

The old series of N200, N500 and N1,000 notes cease to be legal tender by January 31st, 2023.

While the House of Representatives yesterday asked the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to extend the deadline for use of the old naira notes by at least six months, since the new notes were not readily available, the CBN has dismissed claims of a scarcity of the new naira notes and insisted that there was no going back on the stipulated deadline.

What will really happen on the deadline day?
