All Lives Matter

Friday, May 27 2022

“If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless. Your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability to mankind.”- Inibehe Effiong (Human Rights and Public Interest Lawyer)

Dear Active Citizen,Last week we wrote to you condemning the gruesome murder of Deborah Yakubu, David Imoh, Private Gloria Matthew and her fiance, Warrant Officer Linus Musa Audu (Retired). A few days later, two members of the House of Assembly in Anambra State, Okechukwu Okoye and Cyril Chiegbokawas were murdered. On Sunday, May 22nd, Harira Jubril and her four children, Fatima, 9; Khadijah, 7; Hadiza, 5 and Zaituna, 2, were allegedly murdered in Anambra State.Tomorrow, May 28th, is the 5th National Day of Mourning and Remembrance for Victims of Violent Killings in Nigeria. At least 1,884 citizens were violently killed in Q1 2022. These numbers are startling! We will not be quiet because every Nigerian life must count irrespective of religion or tribe! If our elected leaders fail to address insecurity in Nigeria, we have a duty to say #EnoughIsEnough!

ASUU Strike: The Future of Education!

Yesterday, May 26

, we had quite an interactive session on

#ThursdayTalks

discussing the effect of incessant ASUU strikes on the future of education in Nigeria.

The discussion involved the participation of stakeholders in the education sector. It is important that we continue to hold our government accountable and stop the penchant of blaming the victim while condoning and excusing government irresponsibility.

Missed it?
