INEC Takes Action: Don't Miss the Juicy Details!
Friday, July 7, 2023
“It is clear that until Nigerians understand their rights and responsibilities and use that knowledge to hold government accountable, our society will continue to be unjust.”

(Executive Director, EiE Nigeria)
Dear ,
Guess what? We've got some good news for you! So, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria is cracking down on electoral shenanigans during the 2023 general elections. They've received a whopping
215 case files
from the Nigerian Police. That's right, 215!
But wait, it gets even better. INEC has
filed a six-count charge
against this guy called
, who was the Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner during the elections. They're like, "Hey buddy, you're in trouble!" The court has even set a date for the trial, which is happening on Wednesday, July 12
.
Now, here's the interesting part. By prosecuting these electoral offenders, INEC is sending a clear message that bad actions have consequences. Nigerians have been eagerly waiting for the elections petitions tribunal to give their verdict on an election that wasn't exactly a shining example of fairness and credibility. But hey, if INEC steps up and prosecutes these offenders with diligence, it's a step in the right direction.
We'll be keeping a close eye on these cases. Making sure INEC does its job and provides us with updates. So stay tuned.
