Is Everything Collapsing?
Friday, July 22, 2022
“You cannot live a normal existence if you have not taken care of a problem that affects your life and affects the lives of others; that is the value you hold which in fact defines your very existence.”

Dear Active Citizen,On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, major Nigerian cities including the Federal Capital Territory, were thrown into darkness when the country’s electricity grid collapsed. Electricity distribution companies announced that the collapse occurred at about 11:27 a.m.
This makes it the sixth time in 2022 alone. The collapse is coming on the heels of a surge in pump prices of diesel and petrol, taking a toll on businesses and households around the country.Incomprehensible! 79.4 billion Naira was allocated in the 2022 budget to improve the power sector!
A New Electricity Bill
On Wednesday, July 20, Nigerian lawmakers passed a constitutional reform bill that allow states the autonomy to activate innovative solutions to solve access to electricity challenges within their jurisdictions. The bill, when signed by the President, will make it legal for states to generate and distribute electricity. This is expected to change the dynamics of electricity supply in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it will embark on a nationwide protest on Tuesday, July 26th and Wednesday, July 27th in solidarity with the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).The Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) have also called on the Federal Government to urgently resolve the impasse with ASUU as they will be joining the strike in solidarity with them soon if nothing is done.
Mr President, everything is collapsing under your very own watch. When will you live by your words and put a stop to this?
