National Assembly's Budget Blunder

Friday, July 14, 2023

β€œThe greatest danger to Nigeria today is the inaction of those who should serve and save it.”

- Olusegun Obasanjo

(Former President of Nigeria)

Dear ,

We need to talk about something that'll leave you scratching your head - the recent allocation of funds by our oh-so-wise National Assembly. They've decided to dish out a mind-blowing

N70 billion

to improve the "working conditions" of our new lawmakers. Wait, what? Are they really struggling to work with all those fancy perks and privileges already?

But that's not even the half of it! Get this: they've also set aside a jaw-dropping

N500 billion as palliatives

to "cushion" the effect of subsidy removal. Sounds great, right? Well, not so fast! That amounts to a whopping

N8,000 over six months for 12 million households

according to the federal government. Oh, come on! In today's Nigeria, where prices seem to skyrocket every minute, do they honestly think that measly amount will solve anyone's problems?

It's time to step up and call out our elected representatives at the National Assembly.

We must come together, share our frustrations, and demand better from those who claim to represent us!

Seeking Justice for Chijioke Iloanya!

Yesterday, Ada, the sister of

, wrapped up her determined solo protest at the National Assembly in Abuja. She's demanding justice for her missing brother, Chijioke

.

Awkuzu SARS in Anambra is responsible, and

CSP James Nwafor

must be held accountable.

Shockingly, he's still free

😦

Ada, along with countless others, has written petitions to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), various

Inspector Generals of Police

, and even the

Anambra State

#EndSARS panel in 2020

. Yet, the Anambra state government has failed to make the panel's recommendations and findings public. No whitepaper has been released.

We're standing in solidarity with Ada, demanding justice. Let's raise our voices together!
