Change Begins With You

Friday, September 3, 2021

“To bring about change, you must not be afraid to take the first step.We will fail when we fail to try.” - Rosa Louise Parks (1913-2005)(African-American civil rights activist)

Dear Active Citizen,

You Can Do Better Than This!

Anambrarians, the state ward-level Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends on Sunday, September 5. Sadly, only 33.4% of Anambra citizens have completed their physical registration. Anambrarians, take advantage of this opportunity! Only those who have completed their registration can pick up their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and vote in the gubernatorial elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 6.Active citizens, do not forget that the CVR exercise is still ongoing nationwide. Of the 2,485,770 fresh registrations in the ongoing CVR process, only 569,828 have completed their physical registration. This is a miserly 22.9%. Active citizens, where is the energy? If you have not completed your physical registration, visit your State INEC office or LG offices. If you have not registered in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, click here to begin the process online.

Your decision tomorrow will set the course for the development of your respective local governments. Go out tomorrow and vote, and encourage your family, friends and acquaintances to do the same!

Remember, change begins with you.

Public Health Crisis in Nigeria

The increase in the COVID-19 Delta variant in the past week is scary, do not take it for granted!  On Thursday, September 2, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 631 new cases and 8 deaths across 20 states. This is alarming, as we are also battling a cholera outbreak in 22 states (Adamawa, Bayelsa, Benue, Bauchi, Borno, Cross-River, Delta, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, Zamfara) and the FCT.According to the NCDC, there have been 31,425 suspected cases and 816 deaths as of Sunday, August 1. This is another public health crisis that we cannot afford. Cholera is a diarrhoeal disease resulting from poor hygiene. Take responsibility and keep your environment clean. Do not also forget to protect yourself against COVID-19 by using your face mask, washing your hands regularly and observing all protective guidelines.
