We Can Do This Together!
Friday, September 17, 2021
“When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something.” - John Robert Lewis (1940 - 2020)(American statesman and civil rights activist)
Dear Active Citizens!

The time to make a change is now!
We Have Lost $360 Million
It’s been 105 days (and counting) since the government of Nigeria banned Twitter operations with at least $360 million lost!GIF Source: GoogleO boy, see money! Yet, our government feels comfortable borrowing in billions, what an irony! How will the economy grow when the "people-in-power" constantly enact policies that counter socio-economic growth? Isn't this an infringement on civil liberties that is likely to further depreciate our already alarming global ratings? Click here to watch EiE, PIN, MRA and SERAP address the ban at the groups’ press briefing held on Monday, September 13th.
Oh! Not Again!
The level of insecurity in Nigeria continues to increase!
This week alone, a school in Imo State was attacked while students were writing exams. Terrorists killed a policeman and kidnapped the
Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru
along with an unspecified number of people on Kaduna-Abuja highway.
Rev. Father Benson Bulus Luka
was kidnapped in Kaduna State - though he has now been released after a ransom was paid.
Fam!! Terrorism and kidnapping are truly cash-cows in Nigeria. President Buhari, #SecureOurLives now!
If you are interested in Politics and Good Governance in Nigeria, this is for you. The Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative is calling for young women to join their Virtual Training School of Politics & Governance. Click here to apply.
Our government may seem lackadaisical at times, but sometimes they manage to forge the right partnerships our youths can benefit from. Take for instance, the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), a laudable initiative in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This programme will connect you to career opportunities whilst providing quality coaching and upskilling. Participants will also receive a fair stipend monthly. Don’t sleep on this one, guys!If you know anyone in need of this great opportunity, share this newsletter with them. Visit the site for full details.By the way, there is a fake site masquerading as the NJFP initiative. Don't fall prey o!
Have a great weekend! The EiE Nigeria Team
