Why Have You Not registered?

Friday, July 9, 2021

“Good governance cannot remain merely a philosophy. Concrete steps have to be taken for realizing its goals.”- Narendra Modi(Prime Minister of India)

Dear Active Citizen,

Have you heard of the disturbing discrepancies between the initial draft of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill and the alleged final copy?

Some key provisions of this manipulated Bill, particularly the

prohibition of electronic transmission of results,

the

removal of INEC’s power to review results declared under distress

and the

drastic increase in the limits for campaign expenses are worrying, because it undermines transparency and fairness in elections.

Although the Speaker of the House of Representatives,

 Femi Gbajabiamila,

has

in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, we must not be distracted.

No sidon look oooh!

Use your voice and resist the manipulation of the Electoral Act. Call your representatives and engage them! Don’t know who represents you?

Active Citizen, why have you not registered? Please go and register!

According to INEC, by

Monday, July 5, 2021,

the pre-registration portal had received only 259,713 applications. Although

young people lead with 175,849 applications, we can certainly do more!

This is the time it matters most!

Mobilise your friends and relatives to register. Spread the word. The steps are quite easy, and you can register with your smartphones and tablets.

Remember, your PVC is an important tool to fix Nigeria.

On

Monday, July 5, 2021,

we woke up to yet another mass kidnapping of students in Kaduna State. About

140 students from Bethel Baptist High School, in Chikun LGA, Kaduna State were abducted by bandits.

 48 hours after,

13 people were also kidnapped in the same local government area!

There have been at least fifteen attacks on schools in Nigeria since 2014, with 11 of the attacks happening in the last 7 months. An

unconfirmed number of students from Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi are still being held.

We demand that the federal government secure our schools.

Enough is Enough!

Have a great weekend! The EiE Nigeria Team
