In the pursuit of a better nation, our power lies in asking the questions that demand answers and holding those in power accountable. Transparency is not just a goal; it's our collective responsibility.

Dear {{First name|Active Citizen}},

Our work to make local government more open, responsive, and accountable is beginning to show real results. Across Nigeria, citizens are proving that when they speak up, leaders pay attention -  and in one state, those voices are already turning into action.

It’s happening in Nasarawa, where citizens are showing what’s possible when local governments listen.

In Ugya (Bassa community), Toto LGA, displaced families used to wake up every morning to one question — where will we find clean water today? Wells had dried up, streams were unsafe, and water vendors charged more than most could afford.

Then came a turning point. Through our #OfficeOfTheCitizen HelpDesk Officer, their voices travelled up the right channels. The LGA Chairman listened, and soon after, a borehole was drilled in the camp. The day water first flowed, it wasn’t just a tap turning on. It was dignity restored. It was proof that when citizens engage, government can work.

Not long after, a young boy - found alone in Lafia after going missing in Benue was brought to the local government office. With HelpDesk support, the Department of Social Services swung into action: feeding him, getting him medical care, and tracing his parents. Within two days, he was home again.

And in Keffi LGA, the HelpDesk helped residents turn frustration into progress - two new boreholes drilled in Yalwan Tofa and Gangaren Aboki, and heaps of refuse cleared from Kadar and Yara Sarkin Modu. One citizen report at a time, communities are becoming cleaner, safer, and heard.

These are not isolated wins. They remind us that accountability takes many forms -  from raising your voice in protest to working hand-in-hand with local authorities to get results.

From Lagos to Ekiti, from Anambra to Nasarawa - and wherever you’re reading this, the message is the same: your voice can move your LGA to act. So imagine what could happen if every community had a Help Desk. Wouldn’t you want that where you live?

Let’s make it happen. Reach us at [email protected] to learn how.
