Change is brought about by people like us! We all have a voice, and what matters is how we use it and that we do use it.

Dear {{First name|Active Citizen}},

Our #myLGA Project is growing stronger!

You’ve followed our journey as we’ve taken the project across states like Anambra, Ebonyi, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Yobe - working with citizens, community-based organisations, and duty bearers to demand accountability at the local government level. These experiences have reinforced a simple truth: all politics is local because voter registration, election results, governance, and legitimacy all begin at the grassroots. When citizens engage, leaders are compelled to serve.

Now, we’re excited to share that #myLGA has expanded to Ekiti State, ahead of the 2026 off-cycle governorship elections.

In Ekiti, we’re partnering with the Peace Building and Human Development Centre (PHD Centre) and the New Initiative for Social Development (NISD) to establish #OfficeOfTheCitizen Help Desks in six Local Government Areas:  Ekiti North: Ikole and Ido/Osi; Ekiti Central: Ado-Ekiti and Ijero, and Ekiti South: Ekiti South-West and Ikere. These LGAs were carefully chosen because they represent both urban and rural realities, and they receive significant federal allocations (FAAC). This creates a vital opportunity to strengthen transparency, accountability, and service delivery where it matters most.

As our Deputy Executive Director (Programs), Ufuoma Nnamdi-Udeh, puts it:

“Since its launch, the #myLGA Project has been implemented in several states, including Anambra, Ebonyi, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Yobe, where EiE has worked with citizens, community-based organisations, and duty bearers to push for accountability and strengthen participation at the local government level. These experiences have reinforced a simple truth: all politics is local. Voter registration, election results management, governance, and legitimacy all begin at the grassroots, and when citizens engage, leaders are compelled to serve.”

We look forward to seeing how Ekiti citizens will own this process, engage with the #OOTCHelpDesks once they are set up, and show that active citizenship works - one community at a time.

Are you in or from Ekiti State? Is your LGA among the six? We’d love to hear from you! Send us an email at [email protected].

This project is implemented by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in partnership with Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria, with support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Join us at TICTeC!

TICTeC - the global gathering on technology, transparency, and civic engagement - brings together practitioners to share how civic tech is strengthening democracy around the world.

At this year’s event, Ufuoma Nnamdi-Udeh, Deputy Executive Director (Programs) at EiE Nigeria, will share how we’re leveraging social media, chatbots, and messaging platforms to deliver accurate democratic information and meet citizens where they are.

She’ll be joined by speakers from Georgia and Uganda, who will show how other civic tech projects are also adapting as fewer people visit websites directly.
