“Fear is the weapon of the state, but it only works when we stand alone. If we all rise together, there aren’t enough bullets or prisons to stop us.”

Dear {{First name|Active Citizen}},
“O God of creation, direct our noble cause. Guide our leaders right; help our youth the truth to know.”
These familiar words from our old national anthem carry weight - especially now.
In this month’s Thursday Talks, we’re taking a step back to ask: Where do citizens truly stand in Nigeria’s political landscape today? From Abuja to our local government areas, decisions are being made that affect how we live, what we earn, and what kind of future we can hope for. But how involved are citizens in shaping those decisions? How much power do we really hold - and are we using it?
This conversation is about reclaiming that space.
We’ll explore how everyday Nigerians can become more intentional about understanding policies, tracking government action (and inaction), and setting the agenda on the issues that matter - whether it’s elections, the economy, the constitution, or the growing culture of impunity.
Our speakers - Vahyala Kwaga (BudgIT), Victoria Oladipo (LearnPolitics), and Temidayo Musa (Civic Hive) will bring insight from research, civic engagement, and grassroots organising. The conversation will be moderated by our very own Ufuoma Nnamdi-Udeh.
Join us this evening at 5:30pm on X (Twitter) Space - @EiENigeria as we discuss how we can stay informed, speak up, and take action where it matters most.
