The people of Osun State will elect their 5th democratic governor among 48 candidates tomorrow, September 22nd. EiE will join the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room to observe the election.

In Osun? You will not be allowed to use a mobile phone and other photographic devices between the time you collect your ballot paper and cast your vote.

EiE in partnership with TVC Communications, Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, Center for Democracy and Development (CDD), Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) hosted a live debate for Osun governorship candidates on Thursday, September 20th.

Fatai Akinbade (ADC), Moshood Adeoti (ADP), Ademola Adeleke (PDP) and Iyiola Omisore (SDP) were invited but didn’t attend. Nevertheless, 5 governorship candidates - James Olugbenga Akintola (AD), Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola (APC), Fabiyi Oluseyi Olubunmi (KOWA), Babatunde Olaniyi (LP) and Ayodele Mercy Tosin (RP) - participated in the debate.

 BBOG Protests in Abuja   

The #BBOG family marched to the UNICEF & ICRC (Red Cross) offices in Abuja on Wednesday, September 19th and to the Aso Rock Villa on Thursday, September 20th to protest the murder of Saifura Ahmed by insurgents.

Saifura, an aid worker with ICRC was abducted alongside two other aid workers, Alice Loksha Nggadah & Hauwa Muhammad Liman who are still in captivity.
