Guide to Recall Non-Performing Legislators

EiE Nigeria Weekly Update Friday,  April 27, 2018

"Future generations will judge us not by what we say, but what we do."- Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf(Former Liberian President)

Unveiling the Citizen’s Guide to the Recall Process

Nigerian lawmakers have been repeatedly accused of irresponsible behaviour and poor representation of their constituents, yet they complete their tenure. Rather than using their constitutional power to recall irresponsible legislators, citizens have taken to violent reactions as seen in recent times where constituents attack their representatives.

To complement our work with other partners on a transparent and accountable National Assembly (#OpenNASS), EiE launched ‘The Citizen’s Guide to the Recall Process’ on Thursday, April 26th to educate citizens on their constitutional right to recall a legislator that represents them poorly.
