#AbsenteePresident: Buhari Misses 3rd FEC Meeting

President Buhari didn’t attend the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting for the third consecutive time on Wednesday, May 3rd. In his absence, the meeting was chaired by Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed said Mr President was obeying his doctor’s advice to rest. This has raised concerns about President Buhari’s actual state of health.Can he carry out his day to day duties as President?Mr President was however available to attend Jumat Service yesterday.

Flashback 2010: Absent Presidents!!

Yesterday makes it exactly 7 years former President Yar'adua died after falling ill. Despite claims and counter claims of the state of his health, it took protests, lawsuits and 78 days before the National Assembly endorsed the then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan to become the Acting President, using the ‘doctrine of necessity’ ending a political logjam. Fast forward 2017, we are faced with a similar circumstance! The 8th National Assembly has failed to make its 2016 budget public, yet they have proposed to increase their 2017 budget to N150 billion! That’s an increase of N35 billion! Class Action: Unmetered Customers & Estimated Billing

Following the failure of the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies to meter their customers and halt estimated billing, a Lagos-based consumer rights lawyer, Olumide Babalola, has filed a class action suit at the Lagos State High Court on behalf of unmetered customers.The case was mentioned on Thursday, 4th May 2017 and Justice A. Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) Continues

In the first three days of the exercise, 57,737 people were registered, while 4,913 others collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). A further 1,820 individuals applied for transfer of Polling Units (PUs) and 1,117 persons applied for replacement of their lost or damaged PVCs.Be reminded that this CVR is meant for:

1. Nigerians who are 18 years and above and who were not previously registered.

2. Those who previously registered but whose names cannot be found in the register of voters.

3. Those who have lost or damaged their cards and would like to replace them.

 Visit the INEC office at your local government secretariat to register.

2nd Volunteer Day in 2017

Our second Volunteer Day for 2017 took place last Saturday. It was a big success!Volunteers came out to support our advocacy campaign. Citizens in the South – South and South – East region were engaged and educated on the #OpenNASS campaign through telephone conversations.A big thank you to all our volunteers!
