 National Assembly Passes 2019 Budget   

132 days after President Buhari presented the 2019 budget at N8.83 trillion. The National Assembly eventually passed the budget of N8.92 trillion on Tuesday, April 30th.

 #NigeriaMourns:  1,071 killed, 685 Kidnapped in First Quarter of 2019  

During the quarterly Northern Traditional Rulers' Council meeting which held on Tuesday, April 30th, in Kaduna, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu said 1,071 persons lost their lives in crime-related cases and at least 685 people were kidnapped across the country. If our elected leaders fail to address insecurity in Nigeria, we have a duty to say #EnoughIsEnough. May 28th has been tagged National Day of Mourning.  Save the date for this year’s remembrance. #NigerianLivesMatter

Indiscriminate Arrest and Sexual Assault of Women in Abuja by Security Officials  

In the past few weeks, over 100 women have been arrested in different locations by Joint Task Force of the FCT comprising of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Department of Development Control, Abuja Environmental Protection Board, Social Development Secretariat and men of the Nigeria Police on the allegation of prostitution.It was alleged that some of the women were physically and sexually assaulted by the security officials who were involved in the raid, including allegations of pure water sachets being used as condoms when the women were raped.  EiE has petitioned the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to investigate the allegations and prosecute culpable officials.
