On Saturday, February 23rd, Nigerians went to the polls and in the early hours of Wednesday, February 27th, President Muhammadu Buhari & Vice President Yemi Osinbajo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were declared winners of the election.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rejected the results and plans to challenge it in court.
As part of the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, we had issued a statement Tuesday evening raising concerns with the process - cancelled votes; disparity in the number of registered voters and occurrences of voter suppression.
We will work with other civil society organizations and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review our electoral process and laws.
Active citizens, Gubernatorial, State House of Assembly and Federal Capital Territory Council elections will hold on Saturday, March 9th.Your vote is your power! Go out and vote!!!
