For 19 years, May 29 has been celebrated as Nigeria’s Democracy Day, 25 years after the historic 1993 elections, President Buhari declared June 12 Nigeria’s new Democracy Day.On June 12, 2018, MKO Abiola was conferred a posthumous honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) by President Buhari. Recall that Abiola was the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential elections which was annulled.

 State and LGA Police: Panel Clarifies Presidential Directives   

Contrary to what has been circulated on social media, President Buhari is yet to approve state and local government police! The Presidential Panel on SARS Reform submitted a report to President Buhari, several recommendations were suggested which include the establishment of state and local government police.However, President Buhari directed the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Inspector General of Police and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to advise the government on the implementation of the report within the next 3 months.
