Inhabitants of Badia–East area in Lagos have been rendered homeless because of the demolition of their homes by the Lagos State government which started on Thursday, June 15, 2017. It was initially Otodo Gbame residents, now Badia – East residents. Who is next?

On Wednesday, June 14th, Lagos – based consumer rights lawyer, Olumide Babalola and Sola Salako of Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON) were live on #OfficeOfTheCitizen radio programme in Nigeria Info 99.3Fm. Issues bothering on numerous bank charges were discussed on the radio programme. According to a Vanguard report, top ten banks earned N138 billion in 2016 from electronic banking charges (ATM, transaction alerts etc.). The Central Bank of Nigeria further directed Nigerian banks to increase some approved bank charges with effect from May 1, 2017.

Class Action: Unmetered Customers & Estimated Billing
On Wednesday, September 14, 2016 a Lagos-based consumer rights lawyer, Olumide Babalola, filed a class action suit at the Lagos High Court for himself and on behalf of all the subscribers of the GSM operators who might have received the unsolicited calls and messages from the telecommunication companies in Nigeria.
The suit comes up for final hearing on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
