The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Commission Bill was presented to the National Assembly on June 2, 2016 by Umar Buba Jubril (APC, Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Kogi State). The bill seeks to erode the independence of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and enforce government’s control of the activities of NGOs in Nigeria. However, NGOs in Nigeria are advocating for the non-passage of the bill.Join the campaign! Say NO to the NGO bill! Visit Shine Your Eye to get the contact details of your elected representatives and engage them to stop the NGO bill.#NoNGOBillNG

The bill also seeks to mainstream independent candidacies. The only problem with this goal is to the extent that it might be, at best, a cosmetic solution to a structural problem.
