#MarchForHealth in Abuja

ONE, BudgIT, CODE, CSJ and other civil society organizations (CSOs) led a peaceful protest to the National Assembly on Wednesday, February 28th. They were demanding that at least 1% of the Consolidated Revenue Fund be allocated to the health sector. The Senate sent representatives to address them and promised to consider it.

Another Victim of Cybercrime Act

Several bloggers and activists have been arrested and charged under Section 24 of the Cybercrime Act. Timothy and Daniel Elombah, Editor and CEO of Elombah news website respectively were arrested and charged under the Cybercrime Act for allegedly defamatory article about the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris. Justice Gabriel Kolawole of Federal High Court, Abuja, heard the case yesterday, March 1st and the brothers were granted bail while trial continues on May 3rd.

EiE, Paradigm Initiative (PI) and Media Rights Agenda (MRA) have been in court since 2016 to repeal the Act. Our next court date is March 15th.
