The Travails of Imo Pensioners

Rest is sweet after labour. However, this statement doesn’t apply to pensioners in Imo state in recent months. With backlogs of unpaid arrears and allowances, rest has been so bitter for them. According to the Chairman of Retired Permanent Secretaries, Fabian Nwagba, the Imo state government is owing up to 40 months accumulated pensions. Read more

Journey in Futility: 21st Century Slavery in Libya

Libya is the main gateway for Africans attempting to reach Europe by Sea. Most of the migrants get stranded in transit and are subjected to slavery in Libya. They are being bought and sold in the public for as low as $400. Nigerians seeking greener pasture in Europe should avoid the Libya route. Federal government should also develop Nigeria to discourage citizens risking their lives on a dangerous route to Europe.
