Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti' Screenings on June 12!

“Art can inspire, but only if you're aware. Don't just consume, engage! Seek knowledge, demand change & amplify your voice.”

Seun Kuti
(Musician and Human Rights Activist)

Dear Active Citizen,

What an unforgettable evening at our #ThursdayTalks event last month! We kicked things off with a screening of the powerful biopic "Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti," which beautifully captured the life and legacy of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.

After the credits rolled, we transitioned straight into an engaging panel discussion. As we listened to Seun Kuti (Musician and Human Rights Activist), Tolulope Hicks (Active Citizen and UNILAG Student), Eyikogbe Toluwalope (Active Citizen and UNILAG Student), Wemimo Adewuni (Media & Communications Manager, WARDC), Aderonke Adebanjo (Executive Director, WILAN Global) and Bolanle Austen-Peters (Director, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti) share their insights, a common thread emerged: the importance of education, awareness, and community engagement in driving change.

Seun Kuti's candid words resonated deeply: "We haven't built momentum. We are starting the race again and again." A poignant reminder that sustained progress requires persistent effort. Eyikogbe provided a crucial perspective on creating robust structures to support student activists, ensuring their advocacy doesn't jeopardize their well-being.

The conversations will undoubtedly fuel our community's passion for driving positive change. A big thank you to all who joined us - your engagement and questions elevated the discourse.
