In July, we celebrated Amara Nwuneli as our #OnePerson - a young Nigerian whose passion for the planet is changing lives and landscapes.

At just 17, she  founded Preserve Our Roots, a youth-led initiative restoring green spaces and promoting climate education across communities. Her inspiring work earned her the Africa regional award of The Earth Prize 2025, after she transformed a dumpsite in Lagos into a vibrant community playground made from recycled materials. Her story proves that one idea and one person - can change everything.

Beyond grassroots impact, Amara is also a gifted storyteller. Through short documentaries and a published book, she tackles climate action, inequality, and corruption - using art as a tool for advocacy and awareness.

Her voice, vision, and drive are igniting action among young Nigerians who dream of a cleaner, greener future.
